Not long after, Paddington and the Brown family make a trip to Peru to look for Aunt Lucy who has since moved into the Home For Retired Bears . When they arrive, they find out that Aunt Lucy has gone missing after exploring the Amazon that we as the audience have only seen her do from afar.
Paddington and the Browns then begin looking for Aunt Lucy which takes them through the Amazon and the beautiful mountains of Peru. Along the way, the team meets Hunter Cabot, a riverboat captain and the Reverend Mother.

Ben Whishaw as Paddington Bear: Whishaw beautifully reprises the character that he always has warmth and sincerity.
Hugh Bonneville as Henry Brown: He is the father of the Brown family, and he is the one that always keeps the family grounded.

Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird: Mrs. Bird is also a dispenser of wisdom and laughter as the Brown family’s quick-witted housekeeper.
Jim Broadbent as Mr. Gruber: Paddington’s friend, who works as an antique dealer, is helpful and encouraging.
Olivia Colman as the Reverend Mother: One of the singing nuns who is somehow connected to Aunt Lucy, played by Colman is a charm.
Antonio Banderas as Hunter Cabot: The character of a riverboat captain who turns out to be a good deal more complicated than expected.
The director of the film is Dougal Wilson whose work on the picture is the first of its kind for him. The screenplay is adapted by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont, based on a story by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Burton.
Critical Reception
“Paddington in Peru” has received positive feedback for the most part but some critics argue it is not as good as the previous ones. Peter Bradshaw from The Guardian gave the movie ‘3 out of 5’ stars and said the following: “This Paddington threequel is ‘sympathetically entertaining’ but the ‘gag density’ has thinned out.” Most movies focus on the celebrations and miss out on the essentials of the characters. The Times also stated that “the film hardly remembers what made Paddington lovable, and the change in location to Peru does not help.” Other reviews are however more positive, for example, Dexerto rated the movie 4 out of 5 and said “Paddington in Peru is one of the better examples of a sequel.” Box Office Performance Paddington in Peru’S opening weekend in the UK was the most profitable weekend a British movie has had since the premiere of ‘No Time to Die’. It gained £9.65 million which is around $12.4 million, making it the most successful starter of the franchise. UK’s top openings in 2024 after Paddington in Peru have been ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Inside out 2’.
Conclusion
The movie “Paddington in Peru” has everything, there is humor, heart, and adventure. A perfect movie for a perfect series.
Although it does not completely capture the enchantment of the former films, it is still a delightful film for the franchise which appeals to children as well as adults.
