The kid had come to know about the film Sharkers 2024 from his friend who extolled its combination of science fiction and drama, but only after he settled down to watch it could he imagine how such a simple story could enter one’s psyche. At 18, he had already gotten used to the typical Hollywood rhythms of accompanying young adults, there were plenty of action movies. But Sharkers 2024 was not the same. It was not merely a spectacle with stunning failures of special effects and ingenious devices of the future. This was about people – about their pain and love, about their will to live and their struggles, about the decisions they make when they’re lost. That’s the factor that enthralled him the most from the beginning: the storyline was frantic and packed with action, but there was enough substance in it as well.

The character that stood out the most, Amelia, struck him from the first moment. She was a person in a position of authority, not out of ambition, but because she was capable of providing leadership in the midst of a disaster. In a time when the civilization was already in shambles and the environment decayed, Amelia was not merely struggling for her life; rather, she was intent on safeguarding the finer aspects of humanity. Now he saw her as a person who held all the potential which he wished to cradle within him at one point when he grew up – someone who did not simply walk the way of life but took action for the rest even when everything is against them.

Throughout the storyline, as Amelia and a few other remaining people struggled against the land-shark, the boy found those troubles to be relatable and reminiscent of things “real people” have to deal with as well. It was not solely about fleeing from the threat. It was also about the choices that Amelia had to make. Choices that often times were neither straightforward nor easy. Who wants to join a mission and possibly risk the entire group for one member, or do nothing – save yourself? The boy’s thoughts were along the same lines. Many people have to take difficult decisions under similar circumstances. It was not always as dramatic as fighting off monsters but the principle was still there. Sometimes, the right thing to do comes at a cost.

There was something in the power dynamics between Amelia and her little brother Toby, which intrigued the boy the most. That relationship was the emotional core of the film, and it was not merely about the love of brother and sister, it was about taking care, about loyalty, about going to any lengths to keep the one you love safe. The boy identified with Toby because even though he was young and naïve, he was brave enough to step up when needed. He could see a part of himself in Toby’s struggle to discover what childhood was. And with the age of not only a bigger number, but also with wisdom, and physical strength. The boy also experienced even more dramatic change than Toby did – from a frightened teenager to someone who can adjust to this new, brutal environment. Same as him, it was the ending of adolescence for him as well, the process of defining one’s self and one’s boundaries.

What remained with the boy long after he had viewed the film was the way Sharkers 2024 portrayed sacrifice. One of the participants of that group, an older gentleman by the name Grayson, took every member’s life and made the ultimate sacrifice. It was not made grand or exaggerated, it was simple almost too understated but it was so powerful. Grayson has seen the dark days and he knows that in order for the youth to stand a chance, he has to lay down his own life. The boy was very touched because this made him remember about the people who had given up much or little for him to go brace these opportunities. He all of a sudden was aware of how sometimes people do not notice the silent battles friends and relatives fight on their behalf and how thankful and humble they should be in honoring those moments.

Amelia’s leadership, Toby’s courage, and Grayson’s sacrifice were not only elements of a well-constructed story, they were elements present in any other life situation when people have to make impossible choices and still manage to find themselves and do the right thing. The boy was now cognizant of the fact that in some sense, Sharkers 2024 was not insane about the beasts that were hunting the remaining human beings. It was about how people imbibe the will to go on living, the will to prevail, and the will to seek help from others. It was about the fighting spirit that people possess even when the odds are not in their favor, and how no matter how dark and empty the world looks, there is still light left.

The film was quite honest about depicting the brutal way things are in the post-apocalyptic zone, but it did not give the viewers a sense of hopelessness. On several occasions, characters could express genuine relations with each other in all the minor forms of caring and love, which the boy began to see as quite essential features in ordinary life. Whether it was Amelia soothing Toby after a horrid experience, or the group eating rice at dusk while all hell was breaking loose, he was reminded that no matter how hard it gets, there is always enough room for kindness within the human spirit.

And as the credits ran down the boy’s thoughts did not want to leave the concept of how much Sharkers 2024 had poured into him. It was not some over the top Action Packed Movie rather it was a human centric narrative. The lessons spilling out of the screen on sacrifice, love and dedication were ones that he believed would linger in him long after the film had come to its end. In the quiet mist of the boy’s dreams, the boy began to admire the people in his life more, the little things that they did everyday and the courage they exhibited in their endeavor. The movie had taught him that there is always something worth fighting for – even in the depths of despair – hope to believe that people will continue to support each other and reasons to live in order to be together.

Sharkers 2024 was still etched in the deepest recess of his heart not because it had any action sequences with blood and gore or because of its setting depicting the future but because of the humanity of the film .If anything, it was an inspiration, that when all is said and done, it is neither the wars that are won nor the wars that were fought that claim victory, but rather the love that is accorded to others at all times.
